As part of its first anniversary, Shakti Global hosted a Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Workshop in collaboration with the Queensland Police Service (QPS), the Domestic Violence Prevention Centre, and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. The event was attended by Assistant Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Mr Herman Vorster MP, Federal Member for Moncrieff, Ms Angie Bell MP, and City of Gold Coast Councillor Joe Wilkinson, highlighting the importance of awareness and community engagement.
Participants learned about the roles of the Magistrates Court in issuing Protection Orders, the QPS in enforcing them, the Department of Child Safety in providing care when children are at risk, impact oon mental health and the Family Court in managing parenting and property matters where family violence is a concern. Presenters emphasised the serious impact of family violence on children, the right to safety, and the importance of early intervention.
The workshop created a safe and open space for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities to discuss domestic violence, understand available protections, and learn how to seek help. By promoting dialogue and awareness, the event strengthened community understanding and highlighted collective responsibility in preventing family violence.
